Welcome to the Hilton Family of Hotels
be hospitable® Traveler Experts Page
In developing the curriculum for the be hospitable® Traveler program, The Hilton Family of Hotels pulled together its hotel team members and a select group of outside experts with backgrounds in travel, cultural awareness and character development. Each of our experts provided their unique perspectives on hospitality and gave personal insights into the dos and don'ts of international travel to promote cultural understanding and hospitable behavior among both Team USA and business and leisure travelers.
Dara Young

Dara Young has served as the Public Relations Manager at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa in Honolulu, Hawaii since February 2005. Loving to always greet her colleagues and Hilton guests with a "hello" or "aloha," Dara preaches that even the smallest greeting with a smile goes a long way to brighten someone's day. With that philosophy in mind, Dara encourages staff at the Hilton Hawaiian Village to warmly welcome guests and extend Hawaii's aloha spirit throughout their stay. Born and raised in Hawaii, Dara's true passion is traveling, because as she puts it, "Traveling is an educational journey that never gets old. Visiting places and learning about other cultures helps us to cultivate an understanding of the world in which we live." The eldest child in a Chinese-American family, Dara always keeps a proverb in mind from the great Chinese philosopher, Confucius: "Choose a job that you love and you will never have to work a day in your life." Dara Young on Thoughtfulness: Dara practices the Chinese virtue of "filial piety" or respecting and honoring one's parents and ancestors. To honor your parents is one of the most exceptional virtues in Chinese culture. |
